PARTNERSHIP WITH MANI BROTHERS

Known as the highest valuation per room of any California hotel transaction, the Mani Brothers purchased the Malibu Beach Inn from Hollywood Studio mogul David Geffen in 2015 for $80 million.

Malibu Beach Inn (Terrace)

The Challenge

Mani Brothers was in need of a low voltage & infrastructure technology partner to immediately perform full room renovations for the Malibu Beach Inn and other acquisitions they had purchased on the Pacific Coast Highway, including a property converted to an all-suite extension of the Inn as well as Malibu Surf. The client also required that the property networks be interconnected to be able to function as one unified entity.

In addition, the client desired periodic due diligence to be performed on potential acquisitions across the U.S., and ongoing management of all IT Infrastructure at the properties over the next 4 years.

The Solution

Nexplay was chosen to be the client’s partner and proceeded to fully revamp the cabling infrastructure at the various properties, installing new surveillance and wifi systems. The entire network was carefully architected and integrated to support a point-to-point antenna wirelessly connecting the properties, which saved ownership approximately $50,000 in annual recurring costs by negating the need to lay and install a new ground circuit as an alternative.

Nexplay’s hotel acquisition due diligence audits provided ownership with valuable insights into the current hotel market’s state of IT infrastructure, and budgetary capex dollar amounts needed to bring properties up to compliance.  With these types of intelligence, ownership was able to gain substantial leverage over purchase negotiations of potential hotel acquisitions moving forward.
